I am trying to find any descendents of John WHALEY and wife Clementine RANDOLPH, possibly the daughter of William RANDOLPH. John was a musician in the Revolutionary War, Quinn's Company, 10th Regiment. He enlisted on July 20, 1778, was the only Whaley listed on the 1790 Jones Census. I am not sure if he had any sons, but he had 3 known daughters: Sarah WHALEY wife of Elder Melus [Camillus] THIGPEN, Caroline Randolph WHALEY wife of Jonas Matthew THIGPEN, and Clementine WHALEY wife of #1 unknown WRIGHt, and #2 Jonas Matthew THIGPEN. If you have any knowledge of this family I sure would appreciate learning about it. I will share what I can with you. Thanks for helping. Keith Whaley

Sands STANDLEY appeared in Grantor/Grantee Index of Johnston county deeds in 1746-1750 and 1756-1757. He would have been born in the 1720s. I suspect he was a grandson of George and Bethia Lovett Standley of Essex Co., MA. Therefore related to Jonathan Sr. (married Elizabeth Foster) who is recorded in Bertie (1707) and later Dobbs. Jonathan Stanley Jr., who married Ann Gardner is well documented in Bertie. I suspect he was father or uncle to Sands Standley (born abt 1740) who married Zilpha Edwards and relocated to SC about 1783. If that connection can be proven, the lineage runs from 1635 in MA to today! The name Sans/Sands is repeated through several generations of the Massachusetts family. It also runs in the family of Sands and Zilpha. Location, year of presence in NC and un-common given names is the only real evidence I have right now. The Sands Standley of 1746-50 NC deeds appears to be a missing link! Any information is appreciated.
My mother's line originated in Jones County according to family legend. The
earliest
family members we have documented are William and Charity MAXWELL who
migrated to Twiggs County, Ga. in the early 1800s. William's father (it is
told) was Hugh. Yet we have no documentation on him. What we do have is
documentation of the couple's existence in Twiggs County, Ga. Stone Creek
Baptist Church Records show Charity as a member of that congregation from
1813 until 1838. No record of William there but do have Tax Digests AND Census records showing
the Family in Twiggs County and a Mortality table showing Charity's death in
Twiggs County in 1860. We narrowed William's death date to between 1856-60.
What we basically need is verification of the Family existence in Jones
County, N.C.
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
