I am especially interested in the HUGGINS family. My ancestor Luke HUGGINS lived in Jones County and was a member of the Chinquapin Creek Chapel Baptist Church. Several of his children joined the "Dillahunty Migration" from Jones County, NC, to Middle Tennessee in 1796. My LITTLE ancestor, Abraham LITTLE, was also a part of that migration. He married Temperance HUGGINS, youngest daughter of Luke HUGGINS. Abraham LITTLE was said to have been a Baptist preacher. My not-so-ulterior motive is to ascertain the origin and lineage of Abraham LITTLE, as well as the HUGGINS connection. Any help and/or guidance will be appreciated. Are there any materials available on the early Baptist church in Eastern NC?
HARDY BRYAN
I am looking for any information on the children and or descendant
of Hardy Bryan (1715 -1760). I only have a short list of his children
(,Lewis, Nathan, Isaac,)
I am looking for information on his children,as well as, his
grandchildren.
We think John W. Bryan born in 1803 may have been a descendant of
Hardy Bryan.
Hello: Recently determined Senus H. CLARK ... was born in NC Dec. 8, 1801, where he was raised mostly in orphanage, . . ." (Southern Christian Advocate obit). Can you direct me to sources regarding orphanages in Jones Co., NC c. 1800. Church operated? State operated? I don't believe there were too many orphanages in those days! Love your homepages - great job. Thanks.
Mary, I am a CRUTCHFIELD descendant. I have some info about CRUTCHFIELDs in the Jones and Craven county areas. They were not plentiful here. Likely came from Virgina and Bute County NC. You may post me for the CRUTCHFIELD surname.
I am beginning research to locate my great great grandfather BELL, Richard Canada (Y). His son BELL, David Herman was born in JONES county in November 1862. His wife was Margaret A. SCOTT BELL. I believe her father was Redding SCOTT from Jones Cty. I have not been able to track them down any more than this. Lenoir Community college found them in the 1860 & 1870 census in Jones county and are sending me the pages from census. However, there appear to be 2 different RCB's in WhiteOak Township because of different ages in the 2 census'. May be same one and just wrong dates, but I'm confused. If you have any information that could help I could appreciate it. They moved to Louisiana and show up here in the 1880 census. I would love to figure him out so I could go back further, but have come to a brick wall.
I would like information on Levi RHODES who was born about 1832. He was the son of James J. RHODES. I would like to know who his mother was. Any information on the RHODES Family of Jones County would be appreciated.
I am looking for information on John FOY, son of Frederick FOY Sr. of Craven County, and believe he may have ties to Jones County also. John is listed in Frederick's will, drawn in 1813 and proven in 1815. He was willed the FOY plantation in Craven County on the east side of Reedy Branch, and ajoining Brice's Creek, Hood's Creek, and property owned by Durant HATCH Jr., Jeremiah PARSONS, JONES family, KNIGHT family, and John's brother, Thomas FOY. I do not know a birthdate on John Foy or who he married. I am trying to connect him with another John Foy, B. 1804, who was living in Rockingham County in 1850 with his wife, Rebecca Webster Foy, B. 1804. The younger Foy was living near a Pleasant Foy, and his wife Martha Bason Foy. I believe that the younger John and Pleasant were brothers and were the sons of the John Foy listed as the son of Frederick Foy Sr. in Craven County. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I am looking for information on Franklin BRYAN born in NC in 1808. I only know he was born in NC but do not know the county. I noticed that a Lewis BRYAN was from Jones County, NC. There could be a connection. Franklin BRYAN had a son named Peyton Lewis BRYAN who was my great grandfather. I'm wondering if Franklin BRYAN could be the son of your Lewis BRYAN of Jones County. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks,
