I recently received a copy of the 1795 estate division of Elijah DUDLEY. His 456 pound estate was divided evenly between his wife, Cassa, and his three children: "Cristopher Dudley and infant the eldest son", "[unreadable -- Elijah Dudley?] the youngest son", and "Cassa Dudley the daughter". Plus the widow and two sons each received a slave: "Negro girl Merrita [?]" to the widow, "Negro woman Sarah to Cristopher", and "Negro child called Sall" to the second son.
The 1790 US Census for Jones County lists one Elijah Dudley as having one (probable) wife and one (probable) son. In 1795 this Elijah Dudley has three children. My question is this: is it possible that these two Elijah Dudleys were one and the same? Were minors included in estate divisions?
One complicating factor is that this Elijah DUDLEY appears to be the son of Christopher DUDLEY, son of Thomas DUDLEY, son of Christopher DUDLEY, as he owned part of the same land at the White Oak River and Black Swamp that was owned by the first Christopher above in 1729. This means that this Elijah could not have been born much before 1760 and therefore probably could not have had three adult children by 1795. Or am I getting my Elijahs and Christophers confused?

I am looking for the family of my g.g.grandfather J.B. MALLARD, b.1806 appx., in NC. I do not have his full name nor exact county: must have been Jones or Duplin since I can't find Mallards in any other county in NC at that time. He was living in Lincoln, TN by 1840 maybe alot sooner. Married to a women named Seri or Sebi who was from TN. By 1850 they were living in Lawrence MO and stayed there until sometime in the 1860's then moved to Boone Cty. AR. They had at least 12 children and some stayed in MO. Somehow they were connected to the Robert P. MOORE family of Grainger Cty. TN. and possibly the Moores in what is now Moore Cty. Thanks for any help, this has been a tough one because of the initials.
