I am seeking information about the ancesters and descendants of HENRY JAMES m. NANCY NORCUTT. He was listed in Jones Co. in 1790 NC Census and in Anson Cc. in NC Census in 1800 and 1810. He had a son RUEBEN HENRY JAMES (1784-1862) m. DELILA A. ? (1785-1861) and possibly other children. I would also like to know the birth and death dates of Henry and Nancy and the last name of Delila as well as any other information regarding the James family.
I FINALLY (after several years research) have found a snipit of information on WHERE in NC to look for the family and ancestry of my William Harrison, and it is JONES County as per the obituary of his eldest son, John.
In the family outlined below, hopefully the first 5 children should be listed in the 1850 census of Jones Co., NC., but I am no longer able to read microfilm. Again, hopefully, nearby would be a Harrison, with a wife named Elizabeth, aged ca. 77.
William HARRISON, b. ca 1806 in NC or SC, who married (by 1834, possibly in Jones Co., NC) to Mary (surname unknown). Mary was b. ca 1814 in NC. William's mother was probably Elizabeth, b. ca 1773 SC. (age 87, living with William and Mary in the 1860 census of Macon Co MO) The family composition included the following children (estimated from 1860 Macon Co MO census records, and by no means proved as accurate) :
1.in Jackson, Macon Co, MO, and buried in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. His obit says he was survived by his wife, but did not give her name. It also stated he was a farmer and had been a Missouri resident for 27 years. He was living at home in 1860 census.
2. Joseph Harrison, b. ca 1836 in NC .. This Joseph is the only one of this family listed in the 1870 Macon Co Mo census in Jackson Twp. He apparently married Mary (surname unknown) b.ca 1842 in ILL). In 1870 they had the following children: John b. ca 1862, Thomas b. ca 1863, Albert b. ca 1864, George b. ca 1866, Laura b. ca 1868, and Benjamin b. ca 1869). His obit states that he died 19 Dec 1896,, age 60, in Jackson MO, leaving a wife and nine children, 3 children having preceeded him. Interment at Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Where did the rest of these children go? Adair County? Also... there is a noticeable 8 year gap here ..... possibly ch moved away or deceased
3. George Harrison, b. ca 1844 in NC. Nothing further found on George.
7. Benjamin Harrison, b. ca 1854 NC. Marriage record 17 Feb 1878 (book E; p.403) to Adra Hutchinson. Her obit says she died 29 Jan 1931 in Kirksville, Adair Co, MO, residency was east of Atlanta, MO. Her husband survived her, as did the following children: Miss Clara Harrison, Miss Ora Harrison, Mrs. Pearl Fulmer, Walter Harrison and Omer Harrison, all of near Atlanta. Also listed three children of Iowa; Mrs. Zelma House, Mrs. Loma Hungate, and Otis Harrison. The funeral was at Mt. Tabor Church and interment in nearby cemetery.
8. Frederick E. Harrison, b. ca 1857 in IOWA. According to his wife's obituary, he married 27 March 1887 to Patience Hutchinson (sister to above named Adra Hutchinson). It gave her birth date as 15 April 1871, LaPlata, MO, d. 11 Oct 11, 1928 at age 50. The obit states the union produced 15 children, seven dying in infancy. Those living were: Orval of Aledo, Ill., Claud, Jim, Ben, Denver, and Ray of Battle Creek, Iowa; Mrs. Inas Snell of Kirksville MO., and Mrs. Aaron Smoot of Hopewell (there was more about Patience (Hutchinson) Harrisons siblings noted in the obituary). It is interesting that while the entire family appears to have come from North Carolina after 1854 to Macon County Missouri, the last child was born in IOWA but still in MO by the time these census records were read. These records were read over 20 years ago from the 1860 census records, Jackson Twp, household 320-320.. The obit of the first child, John, indicates they settled in Missouri in 1859.
