JARMAN, WOOD posted by Nancy Wood Merriman on Monday, April 8, 2002

In the book "Records of Jones County, North Carolina, Deed Book 20" there is an entry dated August 10, 1839 that mentions Emanuel Jarman, guardian to Isaiah, Edward, Amos, John and George Wood. Can anyone tell me more about these Wood children and/or their connection to Emanuel Jarman? Thanks

MAXWELL posted by Edward M. Bugg on Sunday, May 26, 2002

Do you have any information(or knowledge) of a MAXWELL Family(either Hugh or William) who migrated to Georgia in the early 1800s(possibly 1808 or earlier)? They likely migrated from Jones(or possibly Onslow Counties). Any assistance you may lend will be greatly appreciated. Additionally, anyone in the area who has researched the Maxwell line would be appreciated. Thanks so very much for your time and attention in this matter. Sincerely,

DEAN, DEANE, FLANNER, HATCH, SEARS posted by John S. PATTERSON on Sunday, May 26, 2002

27 March 2002 I'm seeking information about Eliza SEARS of Craven County, NC, who married James HATCH of Jones County, NC. Their marriage bond is dated 5 November 1829 in Craven County, NC. Eliza was the daughter of "John SEARS, Esq." who was deceased at the date of the marriage. (Mrs. John SEARS died 16 October 1831.) I suspect Eliza SEARS later remarried and became Eliza DEAN (dob circa1807-12; died 3 April 1875), who is buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern, NC, in the family plot of John Durand FLANNER (January 1826-February 1873) under a tombstone that reads (probably incorrectly) "DEANE." Thank you. Sincerely,

HUGGINS, HUMPHREY posted by Barbara Humphrey on Saturday, June 8, 2002

My grandfather STEPHEN H.HUMPHREY married THOMAS ELIZA HUGGINS in 1880. Her death certificate reads ELIZA THOMAS, but tombstone reads as above. The HUGGINS family and the HUMPHREY family had farms on Hwy.58 south of Kinston almost on the Jones County line. Have been told that there are family cemetaries there-does anyone know for sure? I have a fair amount of info on both families and am willing to share. Please contact me. Thanks
