Need information on McDorsey TAYLOR and his sister, Della TAYLOR. They were born in the late 1890s in Edgecombe County, children of William D. and Beady ARMSTRONG TAYLOR. Both settled in or near Pollacksville. Dell is thought to have married Eddie RIGGS about 1910.
I am especially interested in the HUGGINS family. My ancestor Luke HUGGINS lived in adjoining Jones County and was a member of the Chinquapin Creek Chapel Baptist Church. Several of his children joined the "Dillahunty Migration" from Jones County, NC, to Middle Tennessee in 1796. My LITTLE ancestor, Abraham LITTLE, was also a part of that migration. He married Temperance HUGGINS, youngest daughter of Luke HUGGINS. Abraham LITTLE was said to have been a Baptist preacher. My not-so-ulterior motive is to ascertain the origin and lineage of Abraham LITTLE, as well as the HUGGINS connection. Any help and/or guidance will be appreciated. Are there any materials available on the early Baptist church in Eastern NC?
In pre 1850's. Information that I have is a Wiley KING and his wife Elvira, their four children Lemuel, Nathan, Josephus and Emily along with 14 other relatives left Shady Grove North Carolina and settled in Lawrence County, Indiana. I am seeking information on the SMALL, JARMAN, and HALL families who intermarried and lived in Jones County before migrating further west and south. My particular line is that of Susan SMALL (b. 1780-90) and possibly her brother, George SMALL. She married Robert HALL JARMAN and George married Robert's sister, Philopena JARMAN. The latter marriage occurred in Wilson Co., TN, September 15, 1815, with Robert as bondsman. Susan and Robert also settled in Wilson County. I see that there are estate records in Jones Co., for Benjamin SMALL (1818) and Reubin SMALL (1797). Could these be the parents and/or grandparents of the SMALLs who moved to TN?
I am searching for information on a J.R. (possibly John R.) YOUNG who married Sarah MATTOCKS of Jones County, NC. J.R. and Sarah YOUNG had at least one son, George R. YOUNG, b. 1 Sept. 1846, d. 11 Nov. 1917. George is buried near Swansboro in Onslow County, NC. Anyone who has information on this family and who George married, please contact me. George was listed as married on his death certificate but his wife's name did not appear on certificate. Thanks.
Our HUGGINS originated with Luke HUGGINS, b. 1714/20 NC and died Dec 1784 Jones County, NC. His son, Jacob b. abt 1740 Jones Co married 1760/65 Frances COOPER (dau. John) and Jacob died in Onslow County abt Apr 1790. I would love to find anyone else who connects to either Luke's or Jacob's families.
I am search of Zae Hargett Gwynn's Abstracts of the Records of Jones Co., N. C. I believe she compiled two volumes of abstracts. LIPSEY, RICKETSON, and WEEKS are three surnames included in the two volumes--all three of which I am related to and interested in researching further. In Zae Hargett Gwynn's Abstracts of the Records of Jones Co., N. C., Deed Book H, Pg. 195, it reads as follows: "March 7, 1796. Ricketson LIPSEY and wife, Elizabeth, to Ivey LIPSEY, son of Lemuel LIPSEY, and wife, Nancy, for 70 pds. 150 acres patented by John SIMMONS, Nov. 26, 1757, and descended to John SIMMONS, the elder, and then to his son, John, the younger, deceased who married Elizabeth, now the wife of Ricketson LIPSEY." Elizabeth was born abt. 1769. Ricketson may have been previously married to Ann POPE in Robeson Co., N. C., 8 October, 1792. What was Elizabeth's maiden name? When were Elizabeth and Ricketson married? Any help with this lineage is appreciated. Thanks!
