DICKSON & "a Miss GREGORY of Jones county"; to date, I have been
unable to find any info on
the mother. Mary Ann married Anderson FERRELL of
Wake Co, NC in 1829. Any links?.....

I am researching the JONES and BUSH families of Jones County, NC. I am descended from Arial JONES, born in Jones Co, c1786. He was the son of James and Ann JONES. James died c1796 and left a will mentioning "Rial" JONES and other children: Allen, Aretas, Ann, Arellia, Silvia, Merinda, Elaney, Elvey. I am curious if this family is connected to the Willie JONES for whom Jones County was named. There was a "William JONES" who left a will c1795 and had a son James. Arial moved to Alabama c1823. There are connections with a BUSH family in Alabama and I believe this is connected to the BUSH family of Jones County. Any help in sorting this out would be appreciated.
I have submitted a query to your Jones County website. I was wondering if there was any genealogy done on the namesake of Jones County. My ancestor, Arial JONES was son of James JONES who died c1796 in Jones Co. and I have a reference that says James was son of William JONES. There is a will for William JONES which mentions a son James JONES. Could this be the same "Willie JONES" for which the county was named? Is anything published on him? Obviously with such a common name, there is possibility for confusion, but there didn't seem to be but a few Jones' in that county in the late 1700's. I am also researching the Bush family which is connected to the Jones family later in AL and FL and I'm trying to sort out some info from Jones County. Any info or advice appreciated.
