Benjamin WOMBLE & James MACDONALD Sworn Statement-Sept. 1781

Jones County

Benjamin WOMBLE and James MCDONALD came into open court then and there being
sworn on the Holy Evangelist & Almighty God deposeth and sayeth that on or
about the twentieth of March one thousand seven hundred & eighty they the said
Benjamin WOMBLE and James MCDONALD being in the company of Daniel MILLER,
uncle of Daniel HARGET, son of Frederick HARGET of Jones County they the said
Benjamin and James and the said Daniel being then in Charlestown at the
beginning of the siege of sd. Town the sd. Daniel Miller  being a Continental
Soldier the said Benjamin & James being from the militia of the county
aforesaid sent to the aid of South Carolina; they the sd. Benjamin WOMBLE &
James MCDONALD  being then and there in company with the said Daniel MILLER
aforesaid was told by sd. MILLER & sd. MILLER mentioned in the presents of
them the sd. Benjamin & James that in case he the sd. MILLER should never
return home or should die before his return home his will and desire was that
the aforesaid Daniel HARGET his nephew should have as his right and property
every part of his estate both real and personal as his sole heir sworn to
before the county court of Jones County this 25th day of September 1781.
