Lowery, Jeanette Jarman
TRENTON - Jeanette Jarman Lowery, 84, of 3899 Highway 58 North, Trenton,
North Carolina, died at home on May 15, 2008, after a lingering battle with
Parkinson's Disease.
Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by her parents Herman Francis Jarman and
Sadie Croom Jarman; her sister, Florence Jarman Casper; and brother, Seth
Thomas Jarman.
Through the years Mrs. Lowery was very active in many activities and organizations
in the community, county, and state and served in various capacities.
She was first a mother and a homemaker and taught church kindergarten for 22 years.
She served as president of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Home Demonstration
Club and County Council.
Mrs. Lowery received the Jones County Leadership Award in 1958 and 1963; the
Home Demonstration Woman of the Year Award in 1957; and the Homemaker of
the Year Award in 1967.
In addition, she was a 4-H Club leader for many years. She received the District
Mother of the Year Award in recognition of her work. She was also honored as a
state 4-H adult leader and attended the National 4-H Congress in Chicago.
She was a member of Tanglewood Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Woodrow Wilson "Skin" Lowery, Sr.
of the home; son Woodrow Wilson Lowery, Jr. and his wife Patricia, of Georgetown,
S.C.; daughters Janice L. Hontz and husband Lloyd, of Woodbridge, Va., and
Annette L. Daughety and husband Bobby, of Kinston; three grandchildren, Robby
Daughety, Jr. of Trenton, Laura Lowery Arena and husband Jeffery, of Boston, Mass.,
and Wilson Layne Lowery and wife Elizabeth, of Newtown, Conn.; her twin sister,
Rebecca J. Vause and sister Hazel J. Byrd; and her brother, Felix Vernon Jarman,
all of Kinston.
Visitation will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Howard-Carter
Funeral Home and other times at the home.
The funeral will be at Howard-Carter Funeral Home in Kinston on Sunday, May 18,
2008, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Tim Lanier officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn
Memorial Park.
