Additional Comments:
Note: William Cox Rhem Loftin was the son of Shadrack Elkanah Loftin and Sarah
(Perry) Loftin of Lenoir County. He married Miriam Register, the daughter of
Michael Register and Jane (Gufford) Register of New Hanover County (now Pender
County). The Bible measures 9x12 and the cover is of tooled leather. The
inside of the cover is a green marbleized paper. On an end page is written in
pencil: W.C. R. Loftin Bible. The names in the Record are written in ink.
The Bible is in poor condition with the spine missing and pages loose.
The “Family Record” consists of 4 pages with each page divided into two
columns. The Marriage Register is on the first page, followed by the Birth and
Death Records on each page following and in the order in which they occurred.
The Bible is in the possession of great-grandson Steven J. Hill of Raleigh, NC.
